Wax Guard Replacement RIC Phonak, Unitron Hearing Aid, Henley on Thames | Henley Hearing Clinic
Hello, my name’s Leon Cox and I’m the audiologist at the hearing clinic Henley. Today’s video is going to show you how to change the wax guard on your Unitron or Phonak Receiver In the Canal hearing aid.

In order to access the wax filter, you need to remove the dome from the end of the receiver. Once you’ve removed the dome you will be able to see the white circular part at the end. This is the wax guard or the wax filter.
You will know that the wax guard is blocked either because you will visibly be able to see or there will be no sound output from the hearing aid. Your wax guards are located in a box like this.
You need to take one of the black sticks from this box. You have both an extraction tool and an insertion tool on this stick. Using the extraction tool, place the end into the centre of the wax guard. Once you’ve felt that the stick has clicked into the end of the wax guard, you may remove it.
Turn the stick around and insert the new filter into the end of the receiver. And that is the wax guard changed on your Unitron or Phonak Receiver In the Canal hearing aid.
